14 June 2023 – One aim of ICPerMed is to accelerate the translation and implementation of results of personalised medicine (PM) research projects. In order to understand the barriers and gaps currently encountered by researchers, the ICPerMed Secretariat conducted and analysed a survey with researchers from PM projects. The results of the analysis, including potential strategies to overcome the barriers, are now available for download.
Barriers were identified in eight categories:
- PM pre-clinical and clinical research settings;
- Patients and citizens involvement;
- Implementation of results;
- Ethical, legal and social aspects;
- Data management;
- Health economics;
- Health technology assessment; and
- European research infrastructures.
The derived recommendations to overcome the obstacles encountered will further be considered in the European Partnership for Personalised Medicine (EP PerMed), and will aid the different stakeholders involved in the integration of PM into the healthcare.
