Close Cooperation between ICPerMed
and the European Partnership for Personalised
Medicine (EP PerMed) |
At the EP PerMed kick-off meeting, ICPerMed
members participated for the first time in the
so-called Extended General Assembly of EP PerMed
(ExtGeA). The meeting took place in Brussels (and
online) on 24 January. The new body brings
together all ICPerMed members and the EP PerMed
partners to ensure close collaboration between the
two initiatives aiming to promote the translation
of personalised medicine into practice.
Ejner Moltzen, ICPerMed chair, reflected on the
successful work of ICPerMed since its launch in
2017 and initiated a lively discussion on how
ICPerMed could cooperate with EP PerMed in the
future. Despite the end of EU funding for the
so-called ICPerMed Secretariat, the administrative
backbone of ICPerMed, the members of the
initiative underlined their commitment to
ICPerMed. EP PerMed will take over the general
support of ICPerMed, allowing the continuation of
its substantive work for PM. In the next years,
the international consortium will mainly focus on
all international as well as strategic and policy
perspectives on personalised medicine. Thus,
ICPerMed will have an even more prominent role as
an international personalised medicine
platform.
In order to streamline communication channels,
we strongly encourage you to subscribe to
the EP
PerMed newsletter to keep up to date
with the latest advances in research, development,
innovation and implementation of personalised
medicine approaches. We look forward to future
collaborations with EP PerMed. |

publications on “Challenges, Opportunities and
Facilitators in Implementing Personalised
Medicine” |
ICPerMed developed a study on "Challenges,
Opportunities, and Facilitators in Implementing
Personalised Medicine" that outlines strategies
for integrating personalised medicine into
healthcare systems, aiming to improve health
outcomes and create sustainable healthcare
systems through research, development,
innovation, and implementation. It presents
identified significant hurdles for personalised
medicine implementation and offers actionable
recommendations for stakeholders, including
healthcare professionals, policy makers, patient
organisations, and researchers.
Eight major facilitators were identified:
- Engaging relevant stakeholders in the
implementation process of personalised medicine
- Collaboration between relevant stakeholders
during the implementation process of
personalised medicine
- Establishment of a national or regional
common strategy
- Infrastructure needed during the
implementation process of personalised medicine
- Education and training in personalised
medicine
- Resource allocation during the
implementation process of personalised medicine
- Regulations and legislations for
personalised medicine approaches
- Ethical considerations
