International Personalised Medicine Perspectives – A Webinar Series

08 October 2025 – In the frame of the ICPerMed Strategic Working Group on Internationalisation, a webinar was organised on 30 October 2025 from 15:00-16:30 CET. Dr Diadelis Remirez Figueredo presented activities related to Personalised Medicine and Pharmacogenomics in Cuba.

Dr. D. Figueredo received her B.A. degree (1995, Biochemistry) from the Faculty of Biology, Havana University (Cuba) and both her MSc (1995, Biomedicine) and PhD (1999 Pharmaceutical Sciences) degree from National Center for Scientific Research, Havana (in collaboration with the Department of Toxicology, Free University, Amsterdam). Postdoctoral training in Molecular Toxicology and Pharmacology was completed at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Toronto, Canada.

She is the secretary of Latin-American Network of Pharmacogenetic, the Vice president of the Cuban Pharmacology Society and works in the Cuba Regulatory Agency as senior researcher, in charge of the evaluation of safety and efficacy of drugs for registering. Dr. Remirez research is described in over 50 published research reports – the most recent publication is available here.

She has been reviewer of scientific journals (pharmacology) and lecturer in different international meeting. She has been the recipient of National Award of Pharmacology twice from the Cuban Pharmacology Society. She is a membership committee of the International Union of Pharmacology (IUPHAR).

This was the second event of a series of webinars with the aim to overall increase the awareness about Personalised Medicine and to share information about activities and successes in the field. The first webinar was organised on 25 September 2025 and featured two speakers: Daryl Pritchard (USA) presented the Personalized Medicine Coalition and related activities and Mohamed Zahir Alimohamed (Tanzania) presented the work of the Tanzania Human Genetics Organisation and activities related to Personalised Medicine in Tanzania.
